Nigerian Movies Coming to Cinemas in October 2017

It is another month, and to the Nolly-cinema lovers out there, we are bringing you a list of Nigerian movies coming to cinemas in October 2017.

Nollywood has an exciting lineup this month; we have a crime thriller, comedy, and a drama that looks at domestic Violence.

Last month saw the release of exciting movies in Nigerian cinemas nationwide, including an “epic African contemporary” – Tatu and Kunle Afolayan’s legal drama – The Tribunal. You can check our review of The Tribunal by our first guest reviewer, Saheed Kareem, a Lagos-based lawyer.

No more talk of last month, let us dive in into the Nollywood movies hitting cinemas this month.

4 Nigerian Movies Coming to Cinemas in October 2017


Kicking things off this month is, a crime thriller starring OC Ukeje, Gbenro Ajibade, and Alexx Ekubo. is produced and directed by Walter Taylaur, the director behind the well-received 2015 Nollywood movie; Gbomo Gbomo Express.  - Nigerian Movies Coming to Cinemas in October 2017

It is based on the story – The Chase Game by Tunde Apalowo.

Here is the official synopsis below:

When an ambitious career woman is found murdered on her wedding anniversary, her husband becomes the prime suspect. However, a police investigation unearths others in her life who may also have a strong motive. will be in cinemas nationwide from October 13. Cast includes Kiki Omeili, Beverly Naya, Blossom Chukwujeku, Tope Tedela and Omowunmi Dada.

2. Body Language

This is a story not common in Nollywood but very much welcome. Body Language looks at a stripper and a certain psycho who is killing ladies.

Body Language is a joint effort of Royal Arts Academy and Rok Studios, production and direction credits go to Emem Isong Misodi and Moses Inwang respectively. Here is the official synopsis below:

Body Language is the story of how a mysterious stranger comes into a stripper’s life at the same time a serial killer goes around town murdering ladies. One is left to wonder if it’s a mere coincidence or an ominous design of fate?

Cast includes Ramsey Nouah, Lauretta Richards, Tana Adelena, Ken Erics, and Emem Ufot. It is out in cinema from October 20. Watch the intriguing trailer below.


3. Excess Luggage

From the title and poster of the movie, you know this one is set to make you laugh excessively. In the trailer Ik Ogbonna is different from his usual dapper self here, hope he can kill this character just as Bolanle Ninalowo killed his Jobe’s character in Picture Perfect.

Excess Luggage is the comedic but compelling story of Douglas and Eyinnaya, two cousins separated by physical distance and financial status, but on a road trip from the village to the metropolitan city of Lagos. Eyinnaya, his archaic wife Ugomma and son encounter a breakdown in their car and decide to branch over at Douglas’s estate for a one-night visit that turns everyone’s life upside down.

Cast includes Ik Ogbonna, Mike Ezuronye, Denrele Edun, Queen Nwokoye and Lisa Omorodion. Production credit goes to Ik Ogbonna and Nikky Ufondu Production.

Excess Luggage will be out in cinemas from October 20. Watch the trailer below.


4. Omoye

Omoye, set in Ajegunle, Lagos, is a story that looks at domestic violence and the strength of a woman willing to keep her marriage even if it kills her. It features AMVCA winner – Rotimi Salami, Kiki Omeili, Tina Mba and Stan Eze.

Here is the official synopsis:

A hardworking and relentless young lady unknowingly gets into a toxic relationship with a man that never takes responsibility for anything, with abuse and violence increasing, she becomes emotionally and mentally drained but still won’t give up on her marriage.

Omoye will be out in cinemas on October 27. Watch the trailer below.
